Diploma Recognition

The French Sports Ministry only recognises the certifications for supervised or autonomous divers (“PE/PA, Plongeur Encadré/Plongeur Autonome”) issued by the 5 organisations mentioned in the French Sports Code (ANMP, FFESSM, FSGT, SNMP, UCPA) and by CMAS.

All the standards that these course qualifications must meet are therefore equivalent.

Diving Levels 1 to 3 issued by these 5 organisations comply with the French legal requirements and each certification allows a diver to continue with the next scuba education level.

The ANMP Dive Leader-Level 4 Course provides further instructor knowledge, which can be built up later in the frame of each dive federation or of the instructor training delivered by the French State (BPJEPS, DEJEPS, DESJEPS).

Recognition of competences certified by other agencies

An instructor may range a diver in a course level according to his own competences, regardless of any training system.

However, if dive skills have already been certified by another agency, the instructor will acknowledge those to take them into account of the ANMP courses.

The ANMP has mutual recognition agreements with the French GNPU (“Groupement National de Plongée Universitaire”) and with the international agencies PADI and SSI, so as to easily integrate holders of those certifications within the ANMP training system.

Recognition agreement with the French GNPU (university divers group)

All holders of a GNPU Dive level 1 to 3 may directly take any follow-up ANMP course.

Recognition agreement with PADI

The ANMP has signed a recognition protocol, so that ANMP instructors may acknowledge skills acquired by PADI divers.
